To make it easier to choose between different receivers, let's look at their characteristics.

  • Single-frequency RTK: This is the NEO-M8P receiver. Fix time is up to 60 seconds for two systems within 1 km, and up to 3.5 minutes for GPS-only. It operates up to 10 km from the base station. Accuracy is 2.5 cm + 1 mm per kilometer distance from the base.
  • Dual-frequency RTK: This includes the ZED-F9P, ZED-F9R, and ZED-F9H receivers. Fix time is up to 10 seconds for two or more systems, and up to 30 seconds for GPS-only. Accuracy is 1 cm + 1 mm per kilometer distance from the base. It works up to 20 km from the base with this accuracy, and up to 50 km with lower accuracy.
  • PointPerfect, also known as SPARTN: This refers to the ZED-F9P and ZED-F9R receivers. Fix time is up to 45 seconds. Horizontal accuracy is 6 cm. Regions covered include Europe, the USA, Canada, South Korea, and Australia. However, this is a paid service.
  • CLAS: This also includes the ZED-F9P and ZED-F9R receivers. Fix time is up to 70 seconds. Horizontal accuracy is 4 cm. This service is only available in Japan.
