Description

UM980 All-constellation Multi-frequency High Precision RTK GNSS receiver.

UM980 is Unicore’s new-generation proprietary high-precision RTK positioning module based on the Nebulas IV SoC which integrates RF, baseband and high-precision algorithm. The module supports GPS L1C/A/L1C/L2P(Y)/L2C/L5, BDS B1I/B2I/B3I/B1C/B2a/B2b, GLONASS G1/G2/G3, Galileo E1/E5a/E5b/E6, QZSS L1C/A/L1C/L2C/L5, NavIC L5 and SBAS L1C/A. The built-in multi-frequency anti-jamming technology enhances RTK calculation on multiple modes and frequencies, which significantly improves RTK initialization time, measurement accuracy and reliability in complex environments such as city blocks and tree shades. Relying on the excellent performance, UM980 is well suited for high-precision navigation and positioning applications such as precision agriculture, surveying and mapping and so on.

At first I planned to order some generic UM980 board with 2x 4 pin connectors and connect viac usb interface to my RPI. But then I found this device with integrated USB port. I was looking for boards with 50 Hz pull rate (not 20 Hz). It seems it works fine, but only today I realized there is * in the specs Data update rate 50 Hz *.
So what is the actual update rate ? 20 Hz ? This is misleading. Its like claim: Here is Ford car with Porsche motor inside (if you upgrade it somehow).
So can I upgrade firmware on this device without sacrifice of any featurea ? I plan to use it primarily asi Onocoy station.

This is a fighter with variable sweep wings. If you want it fast, the wings are pressed. If you want it to be maneuverable, they are released, but it won't be fast.

A full 50 Hz (not only measurements, but also PVT) are available starting with firmware UM980_R4.10Build17548 from December 2024. But only in CONFIG SIGNALGROUP 8, that is, with a limited set of signals. In other SIGNALGROUPs - only 20 Hz.

YES. Write to info@gnss.store indicating the order number - I will send you the firmware. The manufacturer forbids us to post it on the website.

Then you need to use SIGNALGROUP 2, it gives more signals. But it only has 20 Hz.

P.S. We have an M21 RTK/INS receiver. It has 2 Hz on RTK, but 100 Hz from INS. If you have a car, it will work. If you have a flying drone, there is no profile for drones yet. But the manufacturer promises.

Dear Team,
I recently purchased a UM980 receiver, but it is not compatible with NavIC and SBAS. Is there a solution to make it compatible?

To enable SBAS use the command "CONFIG SBAS ENABLE AUTO"
To enable NavIC use the command "CONFIG SIGNALGROUP 2"

Hi Team.
I purchased 2x UM980 usb devices. When I received my device is was not compatible with E6 satellite bands, I know that you can update the device I would just like to know how we can do this.

You have the latest FW version of the UM980 module. This version support Galileo E6 band. To enable it, you need to unmask appropriate bands: UNMASK GAL
Please note, that you need to use antenna, that is able to receive E6 band, not any antenna will fit. From our products can be used.
