Description

UM982 Dual Channel All-constellation Multi-frequency High Precision GNSS receiver board with USB C and JST connectors. UART, SPI* and I2C* interfaces. Base, dual antenna Rover and dual antenna heading operations.

UM982 is Unicore’s new-generation proprietary high-precision RTK positioning and heading module based on the Nebulas IV SoC which integrates RF, baseband and high-precision algorithm. Its main and secondary antenna inputs can simultaneously track multiple frequencies of all GNSS systems, and the module can perform on-chip RTK positioning and dual-antenna heading calculations. The module supports GPS L1C/A/L2P(Y)/L2C/L5, BDS B1I/B2I/B3I, GLONASS G1/G2, Galileo E1/E5a/E5b and QZSS L1/L2/L5. The built-in multi-frequency anti-jamming technology enhances RTK calculation on multiple modes and frequencies, which significantly improves RTK initialization time, measurement accuracy and reliability in complex environments such as city blocks and tree shades. Featuring the extraordinary positioning performance and reliability, UM982 is a perfect choice for high-precision navigation and positionong applications, such as UAV, autonomous machine and precision agriculture. Board can be used for a Base, Rover or Heading operation mode.

Hello,
I would like to ask you if several um982 modules can be synchronized on time using a cascade connection among them. I mean I would like to have several GNSS chipsets synchronized with the same clock. Do you have any chipset where I can connect them in cascade and they are synchronized all with the same clock/frequency reference?

Shop owner reply (30/10/2024):
Dear Roland,
External module synchronization is possible for timing modules. For example, all our MOSAIC-T timing boards https://gnss.store/69-mosaic-t-timing-gnss-modules have external synchronization input. Also timing input available on the ZED-F9T boards https://gnss.store/42-zed-f9t-timing-gnss-modules
and NEO-F10T boards https://gnss.store/54-neo-f10t-timing-gnss-modules LEA-M8F module can be also used as reference and with external timing syncronization: https://gnss.store/lea-m8f-timing-gnss-modules/43-elt0030.html

Hi Team
I'm enquiring about which product would be most suitable for my problem. I'm working on a university project to automate a stationary telescope by using a GNSS module to provide accurate heading and pitch data. We aim to achieve an accuracy of at least 0.5 degrees in each direction (heading and pitch).
We have a publicly available RTK base station within 200 meters of our installation site if RTK technology is necessary to provide accurate heading information, or we could consider setting up our own.
I am looking at the UM982 modules, specifically reference number ELT0213. Dual antenna systems seem to provide accurate stationary heading information. Does this device still require RTK to obtain accurate heading information? If so will 200 meters away from the base station be able to provide good accuracy?
What solution would you suggest?

Shop owner reply (06/09/2024):
Hi Olaf,
As you need only angles and not the precision positioning of you telescope, you does not need RTK at all. I hope that your telescope base is stationary. So if you need heading and pitch, you need to setup two dual-input modules with two antennas for each. Distance between antennas will define precision of the measurement. The approximate course standard deviation is 0.25 degrees for an equilateral triangle with a one-meter side. So, it will be the best, if you can setup at least 2 m distance between antennas in both heading and pitch directions.

Hello, Team Eltehs. I have a few questions.
1) The documentation says that I2C and SPI are not used, so why are there these signals on the 12pin connector and there is no e.g. uart3
2) why there is no reset signal on the 12pin connector?
3) what is the lifespan of this product? If everything works out, I will replace all Ublox F9P dual modules in my company with UM982 dual modules from you.
4) is it possible to change the signals on the 12pin connector if SPI and I2C are not connected? Do you manufacture custom pcb board?

Shop owner reply (10/11/2023):
Dear Nick
1) I2C and SPI will be supported with future firmware versions. All boards can be upgraded on the field over USB.
2) UM98x modules have reliable internal reset circuit, so for most applications it does not be need to be present on the external connector.
3) We expect that UM98x modules will be manufactured and supported in 3...5 years, than it will be replaced to the next generation. As official Unicore distributor, we will support this modules over all lifespan.
4) No problem, please describe necessary board dimensions, connectors, etc - we do custom design for many customers.
