Description

SAM-M10Q u-blox GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou receiver with antenna. For your UAV systems, Robots, RC, FPV or other projects. Designed for integration in your systems.

The SAM-M10Q is a patch antenna module built on the ultra-low-power u-blox M10 GNSS platform, which supports concurrent reception of four GNSS (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou) and provides exceptional sensitivity and fast acquisition times for all L1 GNSS systems.

The extremely low power consumption of 37 mW in continuous tracking mode with four concurrent GNSS allows great power autonomy for battery-operated devices, without compromising on GNSS performance.

A front-end SAW filter and an LNA is integrated in the SAM-M10Q module. This setup ensures excellent out-band jamming immunity, for example when a cellular modem is nearby. SAM-M10Q also detects jamming and spoofing attempts and reports them to the host, so that the system can react to such events.

The high-gain 15 x 15 mm patch antenna provides the best balance between performance and small size. The omnidirectional radiation antenna pattern increases flexibility for device installation.

The SAM-M10Q module features an additional front-end LNA for optimized performance and a front-end SAW filter for increased jamming immunity.

The SAM‑M10Q module targets industrial and consumer applications that require small, cost efficient, and ready-to-use GNSS solutions.

I used this product to repair my favorite dash cam where the GPS module died. The dash cam expects a GPRMC message, while this product sends a lot of GNxxx messages; the set of messages and the prefix ("talker ID") can be reconfigured from the u-center software. The biggest challenge was to make this configuration permanent. In u-center, an attempt to save the changes (UBX-CFG-CFG) to Flash fails; it succeeds when saving to BBR, however the on-board 3.3 V supercapacitor is good for a few hours only; saving to EEPROM and SPI Flash succeeds but has no effect (likely those are missing but the firmware doesn't care). Then I merely connected a Varta CR2032 battery via a small Schottky diode directly to the supercapacitor. Only today, after almost a year, I needed to change the battery and reconfigure the module again. Never had any reception issues despite a smaller antenna, probably thanks to higher sensitivity. It would be nice to have VBAT at the connector, though.

Great compact unit.

And for those wondering, the board pin-out is missing for this unit (No datasheet as of 3/28/23), however it's the exact same as the SAM-M8Q board (ELT0136) for reference. https://gnss.store/sam-m10q-max-m8q-sam-m8q-gnss-modules/153-elt0136.html
