I used this product to repair my favorite dash cam where the GPS module died. The dash cam expects a GPRMC message, while this product sends a lot of GNxxx messages; the set of messages and the prefix ("talker ID") can be reconfigured from the u-center software. The biggest challenge was to make this configuration permanent. In u-center, an attempt to save the changes (UBX-CFG-CFG) to Flash fails; it succeeds when saving to BBR, however the on-board 3.3 V supercapacitor is good for a few hours only; saving to EEPROM and SPI Flash succeeds but has no effect (likely those are missing but the firmware doesn't care). Then I merely connected a Varta CR2032 battery via a small Schottky diode directly to the supercapacitor. Only today, after almost a year, I needed to change the battery and reconfigure the module again. Never had any reception issues despite a smaller antenna, probably thanks to higher sensitivity. It would be nice to have VBAT at the connector, though.
