How to Connect SurPad via Bluetooth

Step 1: Connect Your RTK Receiver to SurPad

Start by setting up your RTK receiver. Connect the antenna to the receiver and power it using your phone or a power bank. For best results, place the antenna in an open area with a clear view of the sky to ensure proper signal reception.

Next, open the Bluetooth settings on your Android device and search for your RTK kit. It will appear as BT+BLE_Bridge_XXXX. Tap Pair to connect — this step only needs to be done once.

Now open SurPad and tap the antenna icon in the top menu. In the settings:

  • Set Device Manufacturer to Other
  • Choose Device Type as RTK (NMEA0183)
  • Select Communication Mode as Bluetooth

From the list of paired devices, choose your receiver and tap Connect.

Once connected, tap the satellite icon in the top menu to view your location data. You can also open SAT MAP to monitor satellite signals and check connection quality in real time.

Step 2: Connect to NTRIP Corrections

To achieve high-precision positioning, you’ll need to connect to an NTRIP correction service.

Go to Device → Rover in SurPad. Then:

  • Set Data Link to Phone Internet
  • Choose Connect Mode as NTRIP

Enter your NTRIP credentials, including:

  • IP address
  • Port
  • Mount point
  • Username and password

Tap Apply to save the settings.

Step 3: Verify Accuracy

Return to the Position Information screen. If everything is set up correctly, you’ll see the fix type change to FLOAT or FIXED.

  • HRMS (Horizontal Root Mean Square) indicates horizontal accuracy
  • VRMS (Vertical Root Mean Square) shows vertical accuracy
  • HDOP should ideally stay below 1 for the best performance

With a stable RTK FIXED solution, you can achieve centimeter-level accuracy.

You're Ready to Survey

Once everything is connected and calibrated, you’re ready to start using SurPad in the field with high-precision positioning.
